I would be remiss if I did not follow up with my reflections and opinion of what happened last night in the 2016 Presidential election.
First of all, I am grateful today to our Lord (and pleasantly surprised) that Hillary Clinton lost her bid for the White House as President of the United States of America. Because we serve a God that is sovereign and always in absolute control, I can honestly say that this election was nothing short of a miracle! I thank Him and give all of the glory to Him. I am thankful to a God that “puts up kings and puts down kings” Daniel. 2:21; 4:7 Because God “works all things together for good according to His purpose.” I know that God is not finished, but I am also sure that He is still at work! Phil. 1:6; Eph. 2:10 I still anchor my faith in Prov 16:33, “The lot is cast into the lap, but the whole disposing thereof is of the Lord.”
Second, while I praise God for answering prayer, may those of us that opposed Hillary Clinton’s election now beware of gloating over her defeat! Prov. 24:17-18; 17:5 Pride is still one of the things God hates and I struggle with most!
Third, while I congratulate President-elect Donald Trump, I also know that I need to pray for him to seek God’s wisdom and help to lead and guide him in the enormous job in front of him! 1 Tim 2:1-3 I don’t think any of us would want his job!
Fourth, it is my prayer that those that have witnessed this election both nationally and internationally, will come to the same conclusion as the people and prophets did on Mt. Carmel in Elijah’s victory and personally confess “The Lord He is God, the Lord He is the God!” 1 Kings 18:39
Finally, as we look to the soon coming of our Lord, I pray that we will be busy about “our Father’s business” of preaching the Word and reaching the Lost with the Gospel! I am convinced that His coming is closer than we think!
GPBC Missions Month Emphasis starts this Sunday!
This Sunday morning, September 11, 2016 GPBC will host our annual Missions Month Emphasis!
The heartbeat of Greater Portland Baptist Church is glorifying Christ through Worldwide Evangelism!
In Matthew 9:35-38 we read: And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd. Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.
Of course, when it comes to reaching the untold with the Gospel, there is no better voice for missions than “missionaries!”
Each Sunday we will have a different Missionary to speak for us on Sunday Morning and Sunday Evening!
This year, we will have Four Keynote Speakers! One for every Sunday during the four weeks!
Sept. 11- Dr. Don Sisk Veteran Missionary BIMI
Sept. 18- David Harris- Far East Director BIMI
Sept. 25 – Ken Fielder – WorldView Ministries
Oct 2! – Chuck Weber – Mongolia
With God’s help GPBC will seek to not only send more missionaries to the untold millions, but we will also strive together to do our part in “Praying, Giving, and Going!”
We are working and praying that this will be our greatest Faith Promise Missions Revival ever! Please begin now praying for this conference and make plans to attend every service!
God bless and let’s pray for “A Heart for the Harvest!
This Sunday, May 29, 2016 GPBC is hosting Sam and Debbie Wood for our Family Emphasis Day!
Sam and Debbie Wood are the founders of Family Fortress Ministries, in Jamestown, Tennessee. The mission of Family Fortress Ministries is “to exhort families in all aspects of family life to passionately fear God and to live according to His Word, so that they will experience the abundance that God desires to bless them with.”
The services this Sunday will help each of us to honestly examine our current relationships with God and our family! Every family should make plans to attend every service this Sunday!
Let me also encourage you to invite other families and couples that you know who may not attend GPBC but are struggling or looking for a home church.
This Monday is Memorial Day and we will also pay tribute to all of those that gave their lives for our liberty and freedom in the Sunday Morning service!
This is going to be a great weekend! Please make plans to be a part of it!
See you Sunday!

March 13, 2016 6pm
This Sunday night at 6 pm, GPBC will unveil the “LOVE WORKS!” projects for April 2016!
Jesus clearly taught that as Christians Our LOVE must WORK!”
When he was asked “Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.” Matthew 22:36-40
James, the half-brother of Jesus said, “What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him? If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit? Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: show me thy faith without thy works, and I will show thee my faith by my works.” James 2:14-18
There are many ways that GPBC will express our Love for God and to Others this year!
Please come this Sunday and learn how you can and help us turn East County upside down for Christ!
As a Church, we want to work together as a mighty army of God turning our city upside down with the Gospel and Love of Jesus Christ!
As individuals, we want to take Jesus to the people with our personal witness and compassion.
Matthew 5:16 “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”
See You Sunday!
God bless! PreacherRead More
What a phenomenal year God gave to us this past year! Let there be no doubt that this year promises to be one of the most strategic years in the history of GPBC! In just a little more than a week from now, on February 14, at 9:45 am and 11 am we will celebrate “I Love My Church!” Sunday. Then on Sunday evening at 6pm we will have our GPBC Vision Night!
Solomon inspired of God tells us “Where there is no vision, the people perish…” Proverbs 29:18.

I simply cannot express to you the importance of every member and friend of GPBC to be here! Please mark your calendar and make plans to come to this exciting service! Listen up for further details. I know that I can depend on you to pray and prepare for this great night!
