Hebrews 12:2 exhorts, “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
With these words in mind our focus for this new year is on the soon return of Jesus Christ. Like Jesus, we “must be about [our] Father’s business” in this year, serving faithfully, praying diligently, and hoping fervently for the soon return of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
This year, will you join with us in fervent commitment to live for Christ? If Jesus returns this year, will you be found faithful?
There are many opportunities to serve the Lord in your daily life and through the ministry of Greater Portland Baptist Church. Take advantage of the open doors the Lord places before you to minister His love and grace. Be in your place when the church gathers together in worship. And don’t forget to “look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh” (Luke 21:28,b).
We’ll see you in church tonight at 7pm for our Mid-Week service and this Lord’s Day; 9:45AM for Sunday School, 11AM for the Morning Worship Service and 6PM for the Evening Service.Read More
Celebrate Christmas this Sunday at GPBC!
You are invited to GPBC’s Christmas Service, this Sunday, December 25, at 11am.
I pray that every member of GPBC will use this Christmas season as an opportunity to share the joy that Christ has given to all of us that know Him as their personal Savior!
Let me also encourage you to invite your unsaved and unchurched friends and family to our Christmas Day service.
The Bible sends a clear message concerning Jesus Christ! The Old Testament prophets declared that Jesus was coming! The Gospels document the fact that Jesus has come! The Epistles and Revelation assures us that Jesus is coming again!
As a matter of fact, Christmas can be summed up with the documented evidence that Jesus was born, Jesus lived, Jesus died, Jesus arose, and Jesus is coming again!
The question that demands an answer is “What should we do while waiting for Christ’s Second Coming?”
That’s the exciting part that involves you and me!
First, there is an invitation for each of us. Jesus invites everyone to receive His gift of salvation! This “unspeakable gift” provides the forgiveness of sin and peace with God! If you do not know Jesus Christ as your Personal Savior, you can invite Christ into your heart right now, asking Jesus to forgive your sins and make you His child. Eph 2:8-9; Rom 10:9-13
Then, for those of us who have already received this gift of love, Jesus left us with these words before He returned to Father: “Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature…”Mark 16:15
We are to be His witnesses! We are to share the JOY of the Gospel so that all the world may hear and be saved!
Joy to the world!
The Lord is come!
Let earth receive her King
Let every heart,
Prepare Him room!
Don’t forget that Christmas, December 25th is this Sunday and we will have ONE UNIFIED SERVICE AT 11AM. Please mark your calendars now and make plans to Celebrate the Messiah!
Remember that “Jesus is the Reason for the Season!”
See you on Sunday!
God bless you!
