GPBC to Celebrate 35 Years of Ministry November 5, 2017

Posted in E-News Alert, GPBC Events, Pastor's Notes

In just a little more than a week, we will celebrate 35 years of ministry here at GPBC! We are looking forward to all that God is going to do as we reach this ministry milestone on Sunday, November 5!

As we prepare for Anniversary Sunday please pray and invite friends to come and be your guest!

Dr. Charles Shoemaker

Our friend, Dr. Charles Shoemaker will be our keynote speaker for this great day!

As I reflect on all that God has done over the last 35 years I am still convinced that there is nothing that pleases our Lord any more than to be a church that has a genuine heart for God and for souls!

Let each of us work and pray for God’s blessings in a wonderful way with souls being saved and lives changed for His Glory!!

We’ll see you in Church on Sunday!

How Long?

Posted in E-News Alert, GPBC Events, Pastor's Notes

I can still hear the voices of my children from the backseat of our car as we were traveling asking that constant question, “Daddy how long until we get there?” To be honest, I can’t even begin to count the times I have asked my Heavenly Father that same question! Lord, how long until you answer my prayer? How long until you meet that need? How long until you show me your plan? How long…? No doubt, you have done the same! The good news is we are in good company!

In Isaiah 6 we read where God says, “Whom shall I send and who will go for us?” Isaiah answers, “Here am I, send me!” but just a few more verses into the text we find Isaiah asking “How long?” Simply, “How long am I to go and preach and warn the people?” The Lord respond “…until there is no one left in the land!”

For the last 35 years we have been involved in Faith Promise Missions! A few months ago I was asked “How long are we going to keep doing this?” My response was “Till the whole world knows!” And that is our theme and our mission as a New testament Church! “Till the whole world knows!”

I am thankful that this past year we have partnered with over 110 missionaries to make this effort a possibility! The GPBC Missions Emphasis month is to remind, rekindle and recommit “Till the whole world knows!”

Over the next four weeks we will have many guests and missionaries that desire to help us with this task. In return, we need to help them to do that.

I have often said that our church will hold the most important business meeting of the year during this month of Missions Emphasis! In these meetings we will determine how we will vote for worldwide evangelism!

Please be in prayer as we prepare for the next four weeks and our special guests:

  • Sunday, September 10 – Terry and Peggy Ellis – Rock of Ages Prisons Ministry
  • Sunday, September 17 – Bradly Kubik – Missionaries to Mongolia
  • Sunday, September 24 – Jesse and Faith Turpin – Missionaries to Indonesia
  • Sunday, October 1 – Kevin and Stacie Byers – Church Planters in Astoria, Oregon

The answer to the question “How long?” really has two answers: “Till the whole world knows!” or Until Jesus comes back!”  Until then, “we must be about our Father’s business!”

Please make plans to be with us THIS Sunday in Sunday School at 9:45 am as we start this great Missions Emphasis month!

Pastor Rick Adams

God bless you!
