How Will We Finish?

Posted in E-News Alert, GPBC Events, Pastor's Notes

It has been said that when it comes to life, “It is not how we start, but how will we finish?”

This week is the last Sunday of 2017! This year has been a year full of surprises, blessings, and even some tears. But like it or not 2017 is almost over!

As we approach the end of this year let us determine to be faithful until the end!

Paul wrote in Hebrews 12:2 “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

I am so thankful that Jesus did not stop at Gethsemane! Jesus not only went about “his father’s business” in his earthly ministry, but as He hung on the cross He declared, “It is finished!”

Could we say the same today? Do we have any “unfinished business” that needs to be taken care of before the calendar turns? Perhaps it is an unread Bible, a quarrel mended, a letter sent, a phone call made, a debt paid, or a promise kept?

Let me encourage you to “number your days and apply your hearts unto wisdom.” Psalm 90:12

I pray that God will help us all to finish well as the end of the year approaches and 2018 lies just beyond us!

If you are not yet a Christian please do not let another day pass before getting that settled! The gift of eternal life is still available! 2 Cor 6:2; James 4:14; Proverbs 27:1

As this year quickly nears the end, please make plans to be in church on the last Sunday of the year! Hebrews 10:25

Remember, “It is not how we started this year, but how will we finish?”

Lord willing I will see you Sunday!

God bless!
